Now here is
what  I am
trying to say:
All of you
together are
the one body
of Christ and
each one of you
is a separate
and necessary
part of it.

YOUTH ACTIVITIES

Sunday Nights

The Sunday evening UMYF Meetings are an opportunity for youth grades 6-12 to fellowship and worship. Programs, while Christ-centered, offer opportunities for fun and frolic, service, and praise and worship.

We start the evening with a $2 Snak supper followed by music and singing. Usually we split into groups of junior highs and senior highs and have lessons, worship, small group discussions or games. The evening is often full of surprises

We are a Busy Busy Group

It's hard to mention all the special activities that UMYF participates in.

After a Bash of a KickOff, our first small road trip is to the AllTel Pavilion in Raleigh for the HouseParty concert.
Noah, Mrs. Noah and all the Animals
From the last weekend of September and through October we can be found "Who'll win this time?" - the Cake Walk at the Carnivalstaffing the Pumpkin Patch.  And at the end of the month we sponsor the annual Children's Carnival - always a popular event with the community. In November, we spend the weekend at Camp Don Lee.

December is busy. With proceeds from the Pumpkin Patch, we buy 5 or 6 bikes for Angel Tree Kids. And we make donations to the Methodist Home for Children. And we always find time to go Christmas caroling.

Then, to celebrate the holidays together, the Junior Highs have a Christmas party in the Gym -- finger food and games. The Senior Highs enjoy a Progressive Dinner and gift exchange -- a tradition started Many years ago. It's the highlight of the Christmas season.

After Christmas

AfteWatching the Super Bowl at the Soup-er Bowl Partyr Christmas there is the Ski Trip for Senior Highs, a Soup-er Bowl party, a trip for Junior Highs, a trip to Lake Junaluska, and a summer mission trip for Senior Highs.

Throughout the year, there are opportunities to participate in small outreach projects -- First Bread (feeding homeless), UNC-W Move-In Day, Mother Hubbard's Cupboard Food Collection, Salvation Army Woodlot, Operation Christmas Child (the shoebox ministry) -- to name a few.

Youth Sunday

Each May, the youth take the reins and the lead of both services for Youth/Graduation Sunday -- using their wide array of talents to praise God.  This service is punctuated by the moving testimonies offered by several of the youth.

Additionally, high school seniors and college students are recognized for graduating. A dozen scholarships -- made available by different groups within the church and  ranging in value from $500 to $1000 -- are awarded to deserving students who will be attending college the following year.

This annual services is one that you will definitely want to attend.  These youth are the future leaders of our church.  Come see for yourself that you are putting it in very good hands.
